Right of Interment

Cremation Memorials
Buying a cremation memorial gives the holder right to use that site for a period of time. This can be selected as a  25 year tenure or as perpetual, commencing from date of purchase. When a 25 year tenure period reaches maturity, the holder is contacted to confirm possession or renewal. We request that holders provide forwarding contact details, as this will assist us with future correspondence. If the holder becomes unreachable, despite every effort made, Lilydale Cemeteries Trust holds the right to resume possession.

Burial
A Right of Interment for burial is the right to use a grave to inter a deceased person. Payment of the required fee gives the right to use that land for burial purposes. There is no tenure on the Right of Interment; provided a deceased person is interred within 25 years from the date of purchase or the site has been memorialised. In Victoria, the Right of Interment for burial is perpetual.
