A Natural Burial is a simple, natural and environmentally sensitive form of burial.
Lilydale Cemeteries Trust offers a uniquely Australian burial experience which incorporates elements of sustainability, biodiversity and longevity.
Djeernongs Walk located at Lilydale Memorial Park, is the Aboriginal name meaning pathway or many footprints. Set amongst the rolling hills, this site provides expansive views of the Yarra Valley with scenes of early morning sunrise and afternoon sunsets.
Tharangilkbek is fittingly named after the Aboriginal term for woody country in the sky or promenade for the blessed dead. Fittingly named, this area resides in the picteresque site of Healesville Cemetery and boasts elegant views of Mount Riddell, Mount Monda and Mount St Leonard.
Items that are introduced into the area are made from natural resources and fully bio-degradable to preserve the environment. Instead of tombstones, memorial plaques are mounted on rocks that are sensitively placed amongst native vegetation, minimising the disturbance of existing root systems.
